Non-US Citizens and residents of American Territories are required to have an appointment.
Driver’s license road tests and appointments for Non-US Citizens/Residents of American Territories are available to Sumter County Residents only.
Beginning May 3, 2023, every traveler must present a Real ID compliant driver license or identification card, or another acceptable form of identification, to fly within the United States. As of May 3, 2023, individuals who are unable to produce a Real ID compliant credential or other acceptable form of identification, such as a valid passport, federal government PIV card or US military ID, will not be permitted to enter a TSA checkpoint and will not be allowed to fly. If your Florida Driver's license or Identification card has a gold star in the upper right corner, you are Real ID compliant.
If you are not Real ID compliant, you must bring in original documents that prove your identity, social security number and residential address. The following documents are needed to obtain a Real ID driver license or identification card:
Immigrants: Identification (BRING ONE)
Non-immigrants: Some documents require other supporting documents. Before going to offices read the full requirements at www.GatherGoGet.com or call (850) 617-3995.
If you are an honorably discharged military veteran, bring in your DD-214 to have a Veteran designation added to your license. If you are a 100% disabled veteran, bring in your benefits letter from the Veteran’s Administration that shows you are 100% disabled for a discounted license or ID card.
Drivers whose CDL operation is in a category requiring the medical Examiner's Certificate must show proof of a valid certificate to be issued a CDL or to retain a CDL after the previously issued certificate has expired. The medical card must be brought into the office to be issued an original or a renewed CDL.
Beginning February 7, 2022, to be eligible to take required skills tests, commercial driver's license (CDL) applicants must have completed applicable entry-level driver training from a registered training provider.
* With the exception of the Hazardous Material endorsement knowledge exams, all other ELDT requirements will be verified by the Department's Third-Party Administrators, when the driver schedules their skills test.
